Meet the pheasant inspectors.
Not every distillery in Scotland can boast of expertise in the form of two wise feathered friends. Whenever a lorry arrives at Tomintoul Distillery to deliver malted barley either Henrietta or Gaffer are usually on hand to assist in determining the quality of the grains. Tom Gerrie cradles grain samples in his hand to feed the expectant pheasants. He can tell from their enthusiastic pecks whether the barley is just very good or exceptional! These two wise old birds know when they are on to a good thing!
